BrAsS is a purpose built application for calculating section properties required in the assessment of bridge structures. It provides an extensive list of tools enabling the rapid calculation of over 30 different section properties instantly. A large proportion of the world's bridges have been constructed by riveting together standard rolled sections producing countless bespoke sections as required. The complexity of these sections means calculating their properties is a laborious and time consuming job. BrAsS takes the labour out of this job leaving the engineer to concentrate on engineering. A number of section wizards and templates mean that commonly encountered sections, such as the riveted girder section shown opposite, can be calculated in a matter of seconds. BrAsS is able to deal with a number of section types calculating different properties for each. In calculating bending capacities of girder sections the properties of the flange componets are required along with properties neglecting the web plate and net section properties allowing for rivet holes. BrAsS calculates all of these in a fraction of a second. Download a sample calculation report | ![]() |
